Limited to only 40 units, the Audi TT RS “40 years of Quattro” is the perfect model to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the legendary Quattro AWD system.
The Quattro was first used by Audi in the Quattro S1 rally car in 1980 and it quickly earned the company a lot of success at road races around the world. The Quattro drivetrain was especially prominent on snowy roads. Not only has the success on the track, Quattro also helps Audi win the hearts of fans when widely equipped on its commercial vehicles.
To mark the last 40 years of success of the famous drive system with the Quattro S1 racing car, Audi has decided to create a special “40 years of Quattro” on the TT RS model. It is a small sports car that stands out for its agility and a pleasant driving feel, similar to what the commercial A1 has done to customers in the past.
The special edition Audi TT RS “40 years of Quattro” has an exterior painted white with the name Alpine. Accompanied by nostalgic racing stamps appear on the sides, the bonnet as well as the hood and tail. It is known that this set of racing stamps was inspired by the Audi Quattro S1 that won the 1987 Pikes Peak timepiece track with driver Walter Rohrl behind the wheel.
To contrast the white paint, some of the exterior accents will be painted black, including the “four circles” logo and the Quattro logo on the doors. The small rear window is decorated with the logo “40 years of Quattro”. The 20-inch wheels feature a unique multi-spoke design and white paint, combined with the inner brake shackles painted in red.
This special edition comes with an aerodynamic upgrade package with elements developed in the wind tunnel for maximum efficiency. The aerodynamic booster package details include the air vents, front splitter, side panels, diffuser and a large fixed wing at the rear. The car’s bonnet also gets a number of air vents for heat dissipation.
The most special detail inside the cockpit of this special version is probably the carbon fiber frame in place of the rear seats. This is a pricier option, making it up to 16 kg lighter and increasing firm cornering stability. Nappa leather and Alcantara materials will be widely used in black and contrasted by Alpine white honeycomb stitching.
To mark the special edition, the “40 years of quattro” logo will be embossed on the back of the seat, with long stripes on the center console. This version also has some special details of the S Line upgrade package such as 12-hour markers on the steering wheel, black leather armrests, white contrast stitching, … Final special details. What sets the car apart is the numbered gear lever of the car out of 40 produced.
“40 years of Quattro” still uses the TFSI five-cylinder, turbocharged 2.5-liter capacity similar to the other Audi TT RS. This engine block will provide the car with a maximum power of 394 horsepower and a maximum torque of 480 Nm. Power will be transmitted via a 7-speed S tronic, dual-clutch transmission and distributed to all wheels via the renowned Quattro drivetrain. As a result, this small sports car will have the ability to accelerate to 100 km / h from a stationary position for 3.7 seconds before reaching a top speed of 280 km / h.
The 40 “40 years of Quattro” Audi TT RS will start selling in Germany this month with prices up to € 114,040 per unit, on par with the Audi RS6 Avant “super wagon” or Audi RS Q8.
