Pagani Huayra R has just been officially introduced with a naturally aspirated V12 engine, producing 838 horsepower, only 30 produced with a price of about $ 3.1 million.

Production will be limited to 30 units and the starting price is 3.1 million USD. It’s not cheap, but owners will be invited to special personalized events. At these events, owners will “fully enjoy the thrill of driving a hypercar Pagani” and receive support from the company and professional drivers.

Billed as a “pure, passionate, powerful and charming” limitless ‘monster’, the Huayra R is a new V12-R race-specific hypercar. Designed in partnership with HWA AG, the naturally aspirated 6.0-liter engine is “the lightest, most powerful and most efficient race-ready V12 engine ever created.” This engine produces an impressive 838 hp and 750 Nm of torque.

The engine took more than two years to design and develop, and it reached 9,000 rpm. This engine block also weighs only 98 kg and uses the direct injection system that optimizes “efficiency by ensuring maximum efficiency in terms of thermodynamics and autonomy”. The engine is mated to a new six-speed sequential transmission, also developed in cooperation with HWA AG. This gearbox weighs 80 kg. Pagani says it allows for minimal shifting time, maximum gear shifting accuracy as well as 95% friction efficiency.

The Huayra R has a specially developed square-shaped, four-round exhaust system with ceramic, the exhaust is one-third thicker than the pipes used on long-haul models. The ducts are all the same length and the company says this allows the V12 to roar like previous F1 cars. However, silencers can be installed to allow use on noise-restricted roads.

Huayra R uses a new monocoque case that combines the latest composite technologies and integrates seats for maximum protection. The car also features a unique crash absorbing side structure, chrome-molybdenum alloy steel coil bar and front frame specially designed for use on the racetrack. Thanks to these and other changes, the torsional stiffness increased by 16% as well as the flexural stiffness increased by 51% when compared to the long-distance Huayra. All of this gives the Huayra R a dry weight of just 1,050 kg.

The focus on performance is clearly visible from the outside as Pagani has set a goal of generating 1,000 kg of force on the road surface at 320 km / h. As part of this effort, the car was fitted with two new inlets that cool the front brakes as well as direct airflow to the sides.

The Huayra R features new hood vents that improve air intake and stability, while air vents above the wheels move air to the rear aerodynamic appendages. Other notable highlights include a new roof dome with an integrated fin, a large diffuser and a prominent rear spoiler.

This model has APP forged aluminum alloy wheels measuring 19 inches front and rear. They are wrapped in special versions of Pirelli’s P Zero tires. Pagani says they provide “maximum precision and a complete sense of control even for non-professional riders, ensuring exceptional braking behavior and optimal traction”.

The wheels are supported by Brembo carbon ceramic discs measuring 16.1 inches (410 mm) at the front and 15.3 inches (390 mm) at the rear. Both are equipped with 6-piston brake calipers fitted with racing pads. In addition to the high-performance braking system, the car also has a specially developed suspension system created from one of the “most intense design and testing phases Atelie has ever experienced”. The suspension features an independent double wishbone setup with torsion springs as well as an electronically controlled active damping. It also uses forged aluminum components and has new dynamics and complex geometry.

Since accidents are always possible, the Huayra R has been designed to meet the most stringent FIA requirements for GT vehicles. In particular, there is a heavy safety cage integrated into the monocoque chassis incorporating special absorbing structures, made from composite materials at the front, sides and rear of the vehicle. They are designed to absorb kinetic energy in the event of impact or movement.

The safety focus extends to the cabin as the seats have 6-point straps and are covered with flame-retardant Nomex material.
