KTM joins the GT2 race with a new supercar

After Porsche and Audi, the Austrian automaker – KTM will be the third brand to participate in the new GT2 race. This brand has recently released two photos to tease this new race car.

Although they are only images created from computer technology, two pictures of KTM of their new model partly show their ambitions with these racing cars in the GT2 segment.

Besides these two pictures, KTM also released some more basic information about the car. This KTM GT2 will use a turbocharged 2.5-liter, 5-cylinder engine powered by Audi. This engine block will be tweaked to own a capacity of 600 horsepower when running the GT2 configuration and more than 500 horsepower when using the GTX configuration. Along with that, the vehicle weight will also be very light, only at 1,000 kg.

“We transfer KTM’s signature branding elements – wildness, performance and purity – along with KTM’s core areas of expertise, including modern sports technology, ultra-lightweight construction and The highest quality materials, in a racing car, reflect the mark of the times, ”said KTM board member Hubert Trunkenpolz.

As is known before, 2020 will be the year that GT2 will return to fans around the world after a period of absence. In this segment, racing cars will be allowed to own more power, instead of a less aerodynamic design than the GT3 race car. Currently, this race only has three qualified car manufacturers, including Audi with R8 LMS GT2, Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport and KTM with this new supercar.

Currently, KTM is using a test version of the X-Bow racing car at Barcelona 24 hours last August with the Reiter Engineering racing team. A batch of 20 new generation X-Bow cars will be produced in the coming time and by the end of this year, this GT2 racing car will also be officially launched, before the first race.
