Remember at the beginning of last year, the Ford Shelby GT500 with the VIN number 001 (the first ship) was sold at the Barrett-Jackson auction for $ 1.1 million. The owner of that car, Mr. Craig Jackson, CEO and chairman of the auction unit above decided to choose a special and unique paint color for his expensive Mustang.
Although he won the car auction exactly a year ago, so far, Mr. Craig Jackson has officially seen his Mustang. This car was selected by him to Green Hornet paint color and this will also be the only Ford Shelby GT500 in the world to own the paint color. Talking about choosing this paint color, he said that he chose Green Hornet for the Shelby GT500 2020 because this paint was used on the Shelby EXP500 “The Green Hornet” which was used by the company for testing in the 1960s. That car was one of two lucky cars that were not destroyed after the prototype was completed and put into production, the other called The Little Red, which was discovered not long ago. The Green Hornet has been restored twice with the goal of achieving the most original details possible on board.
Back with a Shelby worth more than $ 1 million. This car also owns the same green paint color as Jackson’s Shelby EXP500. To create this paint color, he had to ask Ford paint experts to combine the base of the paint Grabber Lime with the color of Candy Apple Green. When choosing this paint color, Craig has also “integrated” in the unique paint color option, ie there will be exactly a Shelby GT500 in the world owning this paint color. To make this Shelby look like the EXP500, Ford even added an “EXP500” logo under the rearview mirror on the door.
“When I asked for my car to paint it, I didn’t know it was that difficult, but BASF and Penske’s paint experts got it over and made it real,” Jackson said. “The Ford team has done their best to make my dream come true and I cannot be grateful to them anymore.”
In the Shelby GT500 version, Ford has equipped this car with a supercharged 5.2-liter Predator V8 engine block. This engine block has a maximum capacity of 760 horsepower and a maximum torque of 847 Nm. The Ford Shelby GT500 is one of the most powerful models ever produced commercially by Ford. Not only that, “super snake” is also one of the fastest, it can reach speeds of 100 km / h in 3.5 seconds, completing 1/4 mile in 11 seconds. The car is equipped with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission instead of a manual gearbox and a conventional Ford automatic transmission.
In the near future, this Ford Shelby GT500 will be shoulder to shoulder with the Ford Shelby EXP500 at Barrett-Jackson’s year-end auction held in Scottdale, Arizona. Besides these two vehicles, The Little Red, the remaining EXP500 will also be on display. That car is still in the process of restoration.
