The Ford Ranger product line in the US market has recently been upgraded with a dedicated off-road version – Ranger Tremor, which promises to bring superior off-road capabilities compared to the current FX4.

The shock absorber used on the Ranger Tremor is a single-tube Fox 2.0 with a rear sub-tank that can pump oil in and out from a distance. The pump adds or reduces the damping oil inside the pipe to make the suspension softer or stiffer depending on the operating conditions.
Front and rear springs are specially tuned to give a more impressive off-road performance. The springs on the rear axle still use the usual tweezers for optimal wheel travel. Ranger Tremor’s front wheel travel reaches 165 mm while the rear reaches 205 mm. Along with that, the stiffness of the anti-roll bar has been reduced to provide a comfortable feeling on rough roads.
With the aforementioned upgrades, the Ford Ranger Tremor now has an angle of up to 30.9 degrees, 2.2 degrees more than the standard SuperCrew 4 × 4 version. The starting angle of the car is increased by 0.1 degrees, reaching 25.5 degrees while the peak crossing angle increases by 2.7 degrees, reaching 24.2 degrees.
In addition to the suspension, this version also gives the front bumper car is made of steel, which is attached to the chassis, undercarriage, differential lock at the rear wheel. The exterior of this version is upgraded with a black painted grille with red details and gray paint trim. Powering this version remains a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder EcoBoost engine. This engine is capable of producing maximum power of 270 hp and 420 Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Tremor Ranger version will be equipped with a 4 × 4 drive as standard.
Customers can now get the Tremor version from $ 4,290. This version can be found on the Ranger XLT and Ranger Lariat starting from 2021. The first Ford Ranger Tremors will begin production early next year.
